Why Osteopathic Medicine Tampa?
With so many different options out there for musculoskeletal care, we understand it can be difficult to find the right fit for you. Let us help you on your journey to wellness.
-
What happens during a visit?Time will be taken to review your medical history and any changes. Exercises and lifestyle improvements will be provided and/or reviewed. For in-person visits an entire musculoskeletal exam will be performed and gentle, well-tolerated osteopathic manipulative treatment will be applied to any areas of dysfunction. By the end of the visit there will be a mutually agreed upon plan.
-
What do I do before my visit?Log in to your patient portal account and make sure to fill out all required information and provide all relevant medical records including previous imaging. Wear loose fitting clothes so you are able to freely move around.
-
How often do I need to be seen? There are many factors that come into play when determining a treatment plan. For instance, how long an underlying issue has been present and what in the body has compensated as a result of it. Also, how quickly a patient is able to implement any exercise/lifestyle adjustments. Generally speaking, a patient will be seen every 1-2 weeks for 3-4 visits and then the appointments will be extended out as tolerated with the goal of you improving to the point you need to see us the least amount possible.
-
What should I do after my visit?Due to new exercises and/or osteopathic manipulative treatment there may be some mild soreness after. This is usually controlled by staying hydrating, getting an appropriate amount of sleep, and avoiding exercise.
-
Can you order prescriptions, imaging, and/or lab work?Yes. As a fully licensed physician practice we do have the ability to order these as they relate to your musculoskeletal system. For prescriptions, we do not prescribe controlled substances like opioids. For imaging and lab work, we will provide you with an order form, but if you plan on using your health insurance to cover those costs you will need to check your policy.
-
Are you a primary care physician? No, this office is a musculoskeletal specialty office, specifically Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine & Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. We are not primary care and do not have anyone on call. It is highly recommended you have a primary care physician and if you are looking for someone we can provide recommendations. We do work with your primary care physician, and any other medical professional, to ensure you receive the best care possible.
-
Are you accepting patients?Yes! We are accepting new patients. Your first visit will be a telemedicine visit where you and Dr. Bruner will get to know each other. Prior to your visit you will get access to your patient portal where you will provide all relevant information prior to your appointment.
-
Do you accept insurance? No. We have a patient-first practice model. To allow this, we have not contracted with any insurance companies. When requested, we provide a receipt that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. The amount of reimbursement will depend on your insurance plan.
